How's the real estate market in Eastern Connecticut?

I get asked that question quite often these days. This week I heard the very best description of our current market: It's like a price war in a beauty contest. I'm not sure who to acknowledge for coming up with that little gem but if you are reading I'd be happy to give you credit.

The truth of the matter is that this market reminds me of the gas price wars of ages ago. With lots of inventory, prices keep dropping as seller rivalry heats up. In most cases a great price isn't enough; in addition to winning the price war, you have to win the beauty contest too. It used to be that price could make up for condition and vice versa. Not so anymore; price AND condition matter.

If you want to sell your house in 2008, you need to win the price war AND take the crown.
