Views from the Ledyard Campaign Trail

Today is the first day that candidates in Ledyard are allowed to post political signs. Traditionally in Ledyard, Republicans post red signs and Democrats post blue signs although occasionally someone gets creative and selects green. I really dislike the whole sign thing for three reasons. Signs are expensive, get stolen and litter the town for 3 weeks.

Two years ago, the Republicans approached the Democrats with an idea to limit the number of signs. The Democrats didn't much like that idea. There was something mentioned about me having an unfair advantage because my real estate for sale signs are up year round. Huh? This year we didn't bother promoting the idea. I drove around Gales Ferry and Ledyard today on real estate business and aside from two blue candidates, mostly everyone else seems to have passed up day one of the big event. My signs are still in the garage. I plan to leave them there for a few more days. They will be safe and warm and at least they won't get stolen.
