| November 22, 2008 | | Local Realtors® donate time and money | The past couple of years haven’t been the best for my industry. As home sales plummeted around the nation and foreclosures mounted, the media was quick to point fingers at those responsible for the mess. Many “who’s to blame?” lists included real estate agents. Eastern Connecticut Realtors® didn’t miss the criticism as a New London based predatory lending scam included a local real estate company.
Despite how the media often portrays us, I couldn’t be much prouder of the organization that has contributed over $100,000 to Habitat for Humanity and has raised thousands of dollars each year at their annual Community Benefits Raffle. And now this… Despite tough economic times, the Eastern Connecticut Association of Realtors® has agreed to donate $10,000 and plenty of volunteers for the Extreme Makeover – Home Edition project to begin in Eastern Connecticut in just a couple of weeks. The decision was made at the group’s Board of Director’s meeting on Thursday. (You done good, my friends!!!) If you organization is willing to help, please visit the official website at Extreme Home by Bruno. Extreme Home by Bruno is the place to go to find photographs, ways to contribute, and frequent “official” updates. Think of my blog as more of a collection of stories about the people and events that will change a family and a community over the next few weeks. | | | |
