| June 02, 2009 | | On growing up in Pittsburgh... | When I was growing up in the City of Pittsburgh, I took a street car to Sacred Heart High School. I carried my books, my basketball uniform, and my brown bag lunch. My mother made the most creative lunches including an occasional lunch of stuffed artichokes, one of my favorites. Since that time, I’ve been an artichoke aficionado and I prepare them quite often. The other day, I posted on Facebook that I was steaming artichokes. One of my Facebook friends asked me what I do with whole artichokes. You’ll find my answer here: How to cook and eat an artichoke. They do it pretty much the way I do but they don’t taste nearly as good as Mom’s.
