From Where I Sit on the Ledyard Town Council

While all around us towns are losing theirs....Ledyard's budget vote passed last night 525 - 417.  That's right, only 942 eligible voters cast votes!  Considering all property owners are eligible to vote, this was a pretty pathetic turn out. 

There was a small effort to have the vote defeated but the opposition signs seemed to add some confusion.  While I respect the right to post signs, placing the signs on school property was a little "in your face" and may have helped bring out a few voters in support of the budget. 

I hope the small turnout means taxpayers understand the Town Council did their best under difficult circumstances. There was little controversy and nothing in the budget to get real excited about. It is hard to vote yes for higher taxes but 525 residents did.
