Ledyard Real Estate Swap Makes History

Transfer of Ledyard properties completed today

The Town of Ledyard and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation signed documents today to swap Town owned Indiantown Park for the Mashantucket owned Clark Farm. The transfer was approved this spring by Ledyard residents.

I attended as a member of the Ledyard Town Council. Council members from both organizations joined in the ceremony as Mayor Susan Mendenhall and Tribal Chairman Michael Thomas signed the documents. Despite past differences, a spirit of cooperation made this historic day possible. There were hugs and handshakes all around, captured by TV cameras and newspaper photographers.
