New London Welcomes Cruise Ship

Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship arrives at State Pier

I was going to save this one for next Friday's Eastern Connecticut Photo Friday but I couldn't resist. Seeing a cruise ship isn't a big deal but when that cruise ship arrives in New London it sure is. The 1020 foot long Royal Caribbean, Explorer of the Seas, squeezed into State Pier in New London today, the largest ship ever to arrive in New London. I stopped at a parking lot off Thames Street in Groton to snap this photo. It is a glorious sunny day for the 1800 passengers aboard. Welcome to Southeastern CT!
