Ledyard's Taxes Go DOWN!

Budget approved and mil rate set in Ledyard

Ledyard's mil rate was set last Thursday at 24.88, down from 24.98 mils in the current fiscal year. How rare is that??  Ok...so it wasn't a huge decrease but considering what is happening in other towns in Eastern Connecticut, we'll take it!  I'm rather surprised this hasn't been reported in the local newspapers. I suppose reporters prefer writing on more controversial topics like the defeat of the East Lyme budget. Twice.  Or how about the Town of Monroe where their town budget has now been defeated a fourth time?

Ledyard's budget deliberations were relatively quiet and the subsequent vote was overwhelming in favor of approving the budget. And while a 24.88 is nothing to be happy about, it will do until that time when the Connecticut Legislature can sort out the mess of Connecticut's personal property tax.
