Connecticut Rock Landscaping

Mohegan Sun at Pautipaug

When I first moved to Connecticut in 1971, I was amazed by all the huge rocks. My own home has a rock in the side yard about 3 times the size of the rock in this photo. They don't move very easily and they certainly didn't grow them that big in my hometown of Pittsburgh. The way people landscaped around their rocks was amusing to me.  It seemed that most big rocks had a hosta or some perennial planted along side of it. Now I rather appreciate the decorated look. I took this photo on Thursday while golfing at the new Mohegan Sun Country Club at Pautipaug in Baltic. It seemed rather plain to me but considering all the improvements around the course and club house, I'm sure more rock landscaping will show up real soon.
