Eastern CT Lock Box Rebellion

Eastern CT Real Estate agents resist latest technology
Eastern CT MLS Lock Boxes

My assistant Kerry, took a call last week from a local agent and member of the CT Multiple Listing Service. The agent was calling to set up a showing on one of my home listings in Ledyard. Kerry let her know the property was easy to show by appointment with an electronic lock box. The agent said "We all hate those electronic lockboxes and we are going to start a rebellion by only using push button lock boxes."   Oh really??

This isn't the first time I've written about the resistance by local real estate agents to the latest lock box technology. And like the last time I wrote about the topic, I just don't get it. Many push button or combination lock boxes are a lawsuit waiting to happen. The old  combination lock boxes by Supra come with a default setting. Many agents never change the combination so there are a large number of homes in the area that can be accessed by simply dialing ....ummm, I don't think I'll mention it here. Additionally, the push button type lockboxes are often not reset from their original factory setting or the agents choose to use the same number combinations over and over.

The electronic lockboxes use infrared technology and provide the ability to track exactly who entered the house and what time they entered. Most importantly they are SECURE. Which begs the question: Who are you working for when you decide to join the rebellion?
