Blog Me Not!

A recent journey into the blosphere finds plenty of bad real estate blogs.
I admit it!  I spend plenty of time each week blog hopping as I visit other real estate blogs. There are plenty out there, and recently, the Pittsburgh Homes Daily did a feature on 500 Real Estate Blogs to Watch.  (I'm happy to say this blog is on the list!)

I'm usually on the hunt for marketing ideas, technology tools and an update on market conditions around the nation.  I don't "steal" ideas from other blogs since I seem to have plenty to blog about on my own.  Eastern Connecticut and Ledyard specifically, give me plenty of material.

One of my great discoveries is that blogging is not for everyone.  I mean, if you can't spell and you have bad grammar, it is probably not a good idea to blog.   Ok...I'm a notoriously bad speller.  (I had to double check notoriously.)  And my grammar is not perfect - it's a "born in Pittsburgh" thing.  But spell check is a really beautiful invention and I'm rather surprised that some bloggers don't appear to use it or at least have someone proof read for them.  I'm not looking for perfection.  I'm sure there is at least one comma out of place right here!

Most real estate blogs are boring.  I found that many bloggers don't really have enough interesting things to say to keep up the daily (or at the very least weekly) grind of churning out something on a regular basis.  I found a few blogs that haven't had a post in months.

So why do real estatate agents blog?   Most real estate agents blog to get good search engine placement.  The search engines favor blogs for lots of boring technical reasons that don't matter here. My theory is this:  I believe a person should only blog if they love doing it.   I love doing it!
