Hurricane Shutters Back in the News

Coastal homeowners must install storm shutters

Hurricane shutters were back in the news this week. The New London Day reported "The Andover Insurance company plans to drop policies in 26 Connecticut Towns if the homeowners don't provide proof that they will install storm shutters on their homes.  People living within three-fourths of a mile of the coast would be affected, from Branford east to the Rhode Island border and north along the Thames River to Ledyard, Preston, Quaker Hill, Uncasville and Deep River." And while there are plenty of other insurance companies without  storm shutter requirements, it is something those on the coast (and even those who don't consider themselves on the coast) must watch out for.  I suspect if that long overdue hurricane finds its way to Southern New England, more insurance companies will follow the storm shutter trend.
