| August 18, 2006 | | Off topic blog about New London Football Coach | Writing a blog means always being on the lookout for good blog material. This week had a plethora of it. Most had nothing to do with real estate but hey, it's my blog and I just couldn't resist commenting on just this one issue. Jack Cochran, football coach at New London High School, threw a punch at a rival football coach yet remains as a teacher. Daniel Sullivan, New London High School principal, was quoted in the New London Day as saying “I don't know that there's any one crime someone would commit that would result in a termination of their teaching position, short of the obvious. Otherwise, I think things that will result in (a teacher being fired) occur over time, a series of negative evaluations and an inability to remediate their performance and things like that. People lose their (teaching) jobs over time like they do in any other career.” I don't think so Mr. Sullivan. No other career or profession allows their employees to commit a "series" of crimes before they are fired. And your comment is exactly why more and more parents home school their children and why taxpayers are fed up with education budgets. | | | |
